Great location, great staff and convenient restaurant next door.
Need a way to get luggage up the stairs. There is no elevator. No bellcaps or anyone to help lug heavy luggage up the stairs. Was unaware of this before arriving. Room was small but clean.
The room was extremely small and claustrophobic. There was no room to unpack both our cases without falling over them. The 'en-suite' was a toilet with a shower in it and the wash basin was in the room. The decor was dull, had the room been painted white it might have helped with the feeling of claustrophobia. Bed linen was clean but of very poor quality. The price was far too high, in our opinion, for the hotel, we stayed at 6 other hotels in the rockies and some were cheaper and they were far, far superior to the Astoria. In our opinion the hotel is of backpacker quality at 4/5 star prices.
I enjoyed leaving the hotel in the hope my serious disappointment at staying there would be more quickly forgotten. I was also looking forward to our next hotel and the expectation their shower would flow with a constant temperature and not require a sudden leap to avoid being scalded. Also in the next hotel there would be reasonable space to move around the room and no disturbance from a noisy and smelly extractor fan from the hotel kitchen.
It is in a central position in Jasper.
The hotel was situated on the main street close to the railway station. There is no hotel parking available but there is a free public car park across from the hotel, however if you can't find space to unload your luggage you have a fair distance to the crossing point, to gain access across the busy dual lane road to the hotel. On arrival at the hotel the staff where helpful but insisted that a cover charge of $100 was required to cover any damages. The money would be returned to your credit card account when the housekeeping staff were satisfied that no damage or breakages had occurred. There is no lift and no assistance was offered to help with the luggage. The decor of the room was out dated and shabby with stains on the carpet. The room was very small for a double and the shower and toilet where housed in something no bigger than a large cupboard, with the wash hand basin squeezed into the bedroom. There where two lights above the bed, neither worked. The air conditioning was old and inadequate which in the temperatures we witnessed during our stay was not satisfactory. There was no complimentary breakfast provided but a breakfast room was available in the hotel, however this was also available to the general public, with no priority for hotel guests. There was a large queue waiting to be seated for breakfast so we ended up eating at another establishment 400 metres up the street. I will not be staying at the Astoria Hotel again.
The room was very small and claustraphobic. There was a continuous noise from the adjacent building's fan. It was poor value for money.
The hotel is perfectly situation if you want to experience the national park and you have Laundry facilities in the hotel. Rooms are nice and clean. Staff is helpful and friendly
The sink is in the room not in the bathroom which is a little bit arkward and the internet connection doesn't work for most european laptops.
the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The room with a sofa was very comfortable.
The staff has been very helpful with us. Nice people, always smiling, we liked their friendliness.
The room was very small and expensive !
The only thing was its close location to the rail station.
On arrival, and in comparison to the rest of Canada, the welcome and information provided was not as good. Room was very small, old and window dirty. Bathroom was very very small - towel rack broken. Bath wash basin was next to bed. Not worth the price paid. Breakfast also not included. No lift in hotel.
The rooms are very small and primitive. The view from the rooms is dismal. These rooms should be $60, not $120!
Hotel is old, as well as beds, bathroom, carpet, furniture.
Good location, hotel staff very nice and helpful
Very little. Central location.
A Root Beer Hotel charging Champagne rates. The hotel was tired and shabby. The room was small and cramped with a bed filling almost the whole space. The carpet was stained, the washbasin up against the bed and with a tiny shower room. There was chipped paint around the door and windows. The window overlooked the kitchen roof with it's vents and accompanying smells. The landing carpet had holes covered with gaffer tape and there were nails sticking out of the wall. There is no lift and no offer of help with luggage. If the price per night had been $35 that would have been ok but $158 plus tax, no way. After travelling in North America for fifty years I have only stayed in two worse hotels and they did not charge these kind of rates. Booked.net should take this off their listings.
Central to Jasper
Did not think it was good value for money. Room was tiny and overpriced for the amenities - captive audience if you require hotel in Jasper - If had choice would not stay there again.
It was in a great location-----right on the main street in town.
